Charity car wash a success!

Hello everyone!

Hope you are having a great weekend :)

I am very happy to announce the Charity car wash was a success! We raised a total of £213.00, it was a cool day with a bit of nip in the wind, not that we felt it when we were busy washing cars lol!

I would like to thank Mike and The Sun Inn at Cottingley for not only letting us host the event in the pub car park, bit for also donating the water....and even bigger thanks for telling us we can do the car wash anytime :)

I want to thank War on Cancer's team of volunteers for giving up their Saturday to wash cars out in the cold!....So a big thank you to Jeannie, Dave (hero) ,Nicky, Sue (giggly) and Daz (dazzlin). War on Cancer will always be really grateful to you all helping out on events, your support is very much appreciated by myself :)

Of course I can't not thank our band of tiny tots who braved the cold to help out cleaning cars for a couple of hours - so a really massive thank you to Molly, Bella, Seb and Joshua ( Joshua - you really woke me up when you was spraying me and not the car with the water lol!!! ) - I don't know many little ones who would have washed cars with such enthusiasm for so long without complaining about been either cold, bored or both :) War on Cancer has it's own little band of followers :)

So because it was a success, we will be hosting this event again definitely--but wait until it warms up some more ( will be nice to get a tan while slogging it out washing cars me thinks!! )

Congratulations to Giggly Sue and Molly for the Bunfight - the final tally for money raised was a whopping £188.50!! a very successful coffee morning/afternoon tea!

A great fundraising month February has turned out to be :)

So as we move to the end of the month, I remind everyone that March is re-cycling month. So we are asking for old mobile phones to be donated - dig around in the back of the drawers, blow off the dust on that old mobile you kept "just in case" - you know the one that never does get used, but we all keep "just in case"!!

We can send them off for re-cycling and the money we receive from the re-cycling company will go into the fundraising pot. You don't have to live near-by for this, if you live far away, but still want to be involved, you can organise a collection yourselves, send to a re-cycling company and then donated the money into the pot by using the donate button on the blog - it is very safe, it is paypal and your money is secure.

March also see's us willing to re-cycle your unwanted gifts and items you think will be ok for car- boot sales, now the weather is picking up, we will be doing car boots.

I will be putting the details out about War on Cancer's Yorkshire 3 Peak sponsored Challenge now - I know the event isn't until June 2nd...but registration is only until the end of March, booking forms need to be sent out and be returned signed, sponsor forms to be got and training ongoing! It is a limited place event and although it is going to be hard, it will be so worth it, I hope to enjoy a Post Peak Pint with you all on our successful return!!

A great couple of weeks for War on Cancer, until next time.

Hello on this February Thursday! Important information about 3 Peak challenge.

Hello everyone

I hope this finds you all in good health and humour!

Firstly a reminder as if you've been able to forget - we are holding our Charity car wash this Saturday at The Sun Inn in Cottingley ( Nr Bingley ) from 10.00am - We've been joking that we are doing the cars "Bad Teacher" style!! - it is February, and we do live in Yorkshire ( north of England for those who don't know) so it would be "Bad Teacher" style with granny's thermals underneath!!!

My loyal War on Cancer volunteers and I are poised with marigolds ready to clean your cars, raise awareness for cancer and hopefully raise a bucket load of money!! we have had loads of friends old and new graciously driving around with posters for the event in their cars advertising the event. I have a load of A3 posters to place strategically to hopefully entice passing drivers to our event. It is after all for two very worthy cancer charities. So here's hoping a fun filled, tiring but very worthwhile day - it will be definitely a well earned pint when we finish!!

Now for those interested in signing up for our Yorkshire 3 Peak sponsored challenge in June - I have some information. When you register and pay your entry fee, I will post out a BOOKING FORM THAT YOU MUST FILL IN AND SIGN...I will enclose a self addressed stamped envelope for you to return to me - this is for the Trek company's records and insurance. REMEMBER TO SIGN BEFORE RETURNING!!!

Don't forget if you are wanting to do the 3 Peak sponsored challenge, instructions of how to register and pay are in the Event details tab on the blog...

I must get off now, I am in fact off to check the details for registering War on Cancer as a charity in it's own right. I will of course keep you up to date on how this is working out!

Until next time

A very successful bunfight!!

Hello everyone and Happy Monday!

I want to take this time to thank "Giggy" Sue Barker for hosting the "Bunfight at the Yorkshire Corral" at her house this Saturday gone. The event total isn't finalized yet, but I can say a whopping £167.50 was raised on the day! Sue - you were the perfect hostess and War on Cancer and myself love you for your support of our cause. To Sue's darling and my friend Dazzlin who bless him is probably still having nightmares after counting the chocolate raisins for the "guess how many" game!! To her daughter Molly who greeted people at the door, shared her bedroom, toys and crafts with the children that came with their mothers.....and to counting the money raised at the end of the day. Molly you were really good you little star ;)

When the final count-up is done, I will of course post it on the blog.

We are now gearing up for our charity car wash this coming Sat ( hope it's warm for all us volunteers!! ).. Hopefully it will be a great success...a busy couple of weeks for War on Cancer and it's avid supporters.

March - this is the month of re-cycling!! so lovely people - we are looking for donations of your old mobile phones - check your drawers ( ooh-err mother! ) blow off the dust and donate that "just in case" phone that is never used!!

Also, we are willing to take any unwanted gifts ( always needed for our tombolas ) and toys, books, anything you think will go at car boot sales....the weather is warming and we will be starting up regular car boots.

So please, if you have anything to re-cycle, before you throw it away, think of War on Cancer - not only will you be helping us to raise money, you will be helping the environment!!

Don't forget, if you are wanting to do the Yorkshire 3 peak challenge with us, you only have until the end of March to register or until the limited places are filled. Instructions of how to register and pay are on the blog. Check out the event details tab.

Until next time :)

Final reminder for Bunfight at the Yorkshire corral!

Hello everyone!

A final reminder of our "Bunfight at the Yorkshire corral" tomorrow to be held at Sue Barker's house, she has graciously opened up her home to us tomorrow, so please come down and buy a brew and a bun in aid of two very worthy charities. As you know War on Cancer for 2012 is raising funds for Walk the Walk breast cancer and Clic Sargent children's cancer charities. Hope to see you at Sue's, as well as cuppa's and cakes, there will be a quiz or two, a raffle, guess the chocolate raisins and some books will also be available to buy for a small donation-- of course a WOC event wouldn't be complete without the opportunity for you to buy a pink glow in the dark charity band!!

I hope we see you there, contact me here on the email link for Sue's address, we will be very happy to wait on you!!

March is the month of been environmentally responsible-- we are on a month's drive to re-cycle!! -- so War on Cancer would be very grateful if you can help us and the environment out. If you have an old mobile sitting in a drawer ? really don't need it?, donate it to us and we can re-cycle for our charities - have some unwanted gifts? we can use them for future raffles and tombola's....old toys and books? - we can hold car boot sales....spring is around the corner--we'll help you clear out your unwanted things and re-cycle to others while rasing money along the way!

Live no-where near me? it's ok, you could do your own re-cycling drives and when you have raised money, click the donate button on here and add the funds!! There are always more things we can do that don't have to be a massive personal drain on us, but will add to our fundraising targets.

I hope you take the opportunity to have a clear out and re-cycle in March!!

Until next time
