Happy, Happy, Happy news !!!

Hello everyone

Well I am a happy, happy, happy lass tonight! I know I bring up exercise and the importance of it all the time, how it can is proven to prevent certain cancers amongst other illnesses. And how exercise helps fight Osteoporosis by keeping your body from getting rid of calcium, exercise has been known to stop Osteoporosis and even reverse the damage.

Well.................................

I am very happy to report that I did not just preach to you all, but practiced what I preached.... I had a DEXA scan ( Bone Density scan ) about 3 weeks ago, this was my two year follow up scan after being diagnosed with full blown Osteoporosis after been put into a premature menopause with the chemotherapy. So I went to see my GP for my results today and can very happily report back that not only has it not got any worse, but it has in fact improved slightly!! My GP  says the results show I have gained a little bone density back in my spine! this is the best news-- so all my determination to get out exercising has paid off, my back is now in better shape than two years ago and I plan to get back out there exercising now my bladder issue seems to have been resolved through my last surgery in January.

I cannot tell you how happy I am to have that improvement and not only can I now step up my training programme, but hopefully I will be able to get out cycling again. I know I will have to build that up ( cycling does hurt my back ) but I'm determined to get back even more bone density by the time I have my next DEXA scan in a couple of years....who knows, maybe I can fully reverse it so I no longer have Osteoporosis at all. Never say never!!

So the proof is in the pudding as they say, so follow my example, get out there, exercise, eat healthy with plenty of vegetables and fruit and give the only body you'll ever have a real fighting chance of giving you long illness free life, because if you do have already or end up with an illness following the lifestyle above will give you and your body a fighting chance at improving your quality of life.

So I will try my hardest as always with the physical challenges I have on this year, I look forward to seeing those of you who have signed up for the challenges this year, I urge those of you who haven't to consider sighing up and if not hope you can sponsor or donate to the wonderful cause we are all doing the challenges for.

So for me I have the following endurance events this year:-

June 8th - Ben Nevis - UK's highest mountain - open to UK, 40 places max
July 6th - Yorkshire 3 Peak challenge host by Lost Earth Adventures on behalf of War on Cancer - open to UK, 40 places max
Sept - Mount Kilimanjaro - World's tallest free standing mountain at 19,340ft - my individual challenge

So if you don't already, make a change to your life and get out there exercising...you really can change your's and your body's future!

Until next time
Tracy
